A few photos from all the Christmas celebrations in the school that took place in December!
1st and 2nd class had a busy December. Some ministers and the Taoiseach visited the class to see the girls preform their Nativity. We also worked with clay to create some christmas themed pieces. We enjoyed the Christmas Jumper Day, the Christmas Concert, Community Christmas Dinner and the very special visitor form the North Pole! Ruth has been visiting our class on a Monday afternoon as part of the 'Reader in Residence' Programme and we visited the library too as part of this!
Prep Year enjoyed all the celebrations of their first Christmas in school! Take a look at them enjoying Christmas dinner in the hall!
3rd Class made some lovely Christmas decorations with Martina who visits the class every Wednesday! They also enjoyed their Christmas dinner in the hall!
Take a look at who the class voted as the winners for the character traits of Respect, Perseverance and Responsibility!
We have had a very busy few weeks in Senior Infants.
We have been learning all about 3-D shapes and positional language in maths. We love to use the words: under, over, between and beside every day.
In English, we read the stories "Safety Bones", "Rosie's Walk", "Stick Man" and "The Nativity Story". We learned the poems "Whisky Frisky" and "Liathroid Liathroid". We have enjoyed a new book for homework each night.
During Aistear time, we have been learning all about "The Hospital" and "The Post Office". We talked about all the different jobs that people might have around the area.
We have been practicing our Christmas play every day and we used clay to make a hedgehog and a Christmas decoration.
We hope you like them!
Last week, we had Sister Anne in the classroom to look at our sacred space and we had our Christmas lunch on the 12th. We had a lovely time in the hall.
We have been working with Martina every Wednesday. She is an artist who is teaching us all about being creative. She created still life drawings with us. Tomorrow we will visit the IMMA with Martina and 6th class are coming too!
Since our last post:
· We voted for our new read-aloud book. We have to wait until it’s delivered to find out which book won.
· Jayla was the winner of the class vote for the Responsibility Award.
· We have been continuing learning about PAX. We are getting better and better at PAX Quiet. We have started using Beat-the-timer for lining up and our best time is 15 seconds! We have managed to line up in that short time twice!!!
· Our character trait for November is PERSEVERANCE. We listened to a story called ‘Amazing Grace’. At the end of the month we will be voting for the person who deserves the perseverance award.
