3rd and 4th class girls took part in the Ulster Bank Financial Literacy program. Starting way back in October volunteers from Ulster bank came into our class to teach us all about finance and how to use money in our everyday lives. We covered topics such as income, savings, budgeting, currency and borrowing. Our class was split into four groups and we completed projects that covered all of the above topics. We also wrote some imaginative stories. On Wednesday the 22nd of April we attend the launch of a book. This book included some of the stories that we wrote in our class. The book is called 'Sailing on the Savings Seas'. On the day Minister Kevin Humphrey's came along to officially launch the book. We also presented our projects to lots of people from Ulster Bank. It was a really exciting day and we had lots of fun. Our teacher says that she is really proud of us. She said that our behaviour was excellent and we represented our school so well! She even gave us no homework. Yay!!!
Yummy Yummy Yummy
Check out our new lunches. Here at St Laurence O'Toole's we get a special treat on a Friday. A super healthy and yummy lunch. And that's not the best part. We get to choose what lunch we want and we can change this weekly. We can log onto the website or send a txt to change our order. Easy peasy! We love our new lunches and it makes our Friday taste even sweeter.
Lets get Physical, Physical !
P.E is really fun and exciting! Dermot has been coming to our class every Wednesday and together with our teacher he has been teaching us lots of new skills and some really fun games. The new P.E approach is that there are no rules. Everyone is encouraged to have a go and we love trying every game. The best part is that nobody is left out or made to feel bad if they find something difficult. Dermot is excellent at explaining what we are to do and he always lets us choose our own game for the last ten minutes. We just love P.E and getting active!!
An Eggggcciiittting Easter
Easter was a busy time in the third and fourth class room. We joined first and second class to visit a beautiful exhibition in The CHQ building in the IFSC. Beautifully decorated pigs were on display and we really enjoyed our visit
We were also so excited when the Easter bunny arrived into our classroom. We all managed to find a hidden egg and really enjoyed our chocolate surprise. Also check out our beautiful Easter Bonnets. We made them ourselves. Our teacher thinks that there are some future fashion designers in our room.
Its a little late but here are some of the wonderful pictures from our St Patrick's Day Celebration. 3rd and 4th class were so excited to perform at the parade. We spent a lot of time rehearsing and our teacher was so very proud of each and every one of us!!
The girls in 3rd and 4th class are having a wonderful time creating their very own comic book. Irish author Alan Nolan has been joining our class on Wednesday mornings to help us create our comic book. This project is organised and run by Scripture Ireland. We feel very lucky to be working with such a talented author and look forward to seeing our finished Comic.
